C.F.A Voysey was an architect and furniture and textile designer who created wallpapers, fabrics and furnishings in the Arts and Crafts style. In 1897, he created a design with pairs of owls and nesting chicks which was produced as a paper by Essex & Co that same year, and in 1898, as a woollen cloth tissue hanging by Alexander Morton & Co. Owls often stay with the same partner for life and in spring, lay their eggs. By May, owlets emerge and now is the time for Rachel’s Voysey inspired owl to take to the skies to hunt and bring food to its young.
