King Penguin chicks are brown and fuzzy which made early explorers think that they were actually a different species. As they journey in single file from ice-clad peaks, the adult King Penguin’s distinct colour variation emerges centre stage – with careful artistry, cheeks are brushed dark orange and care is taken to ensure that their backs are paler than other penguins, more dusk-grey than black. Indeed, unlike the Emperor Penguins that have marched across Moorcroft designs, these ear patches are a buttery-yellow rather than deep orange. In the background, lines of King Penguins march ever forward wending their way across the snowy tundra.
